Coming full circle, as I stated in a previous post, I had a TRB I wrote up that I thought I would finish in January of 2023. That didn’t happen. More books happened instead ( I am staring at five stacks of physical books, that’s not to mention the ebooks I have downloaded too.)
So, in the spirit of picking back up where I left off, here was my previous list:
The Inheritance of Orquidea DivinaThe Priory of the Orange TreeRomance Your PlanTrashed- Everfair (pb – started)
Fierce Fairy Tales- Queen of the Conquered (ebook)
- Real Sugar Is Hard to Find (pb)
- Black Leopard Red Wolf (in progress) (pb)
- Understanding Michael Porter (ebook)
- The Bookshop of Second Chances (pb)
- The Body Fantastic (hb)
- Taste of Her Own Medicine (ebook)
- Grand Master of Demonic Cultivation (pb)
- All Systems Red (ebook)
- The 1619 Project (pb – already in progress)
I’ve crossed out the ones I’ve read earlier this year. My plan is to pick up where I left off and see how far I get before the end of the year. GR is telling me I am 15 books behind. I don’t think I’ll manage to catch up to what I usually read (somewhere around 50 books a year). But I’m hoping to put a good dent in the list.
Here’s how:
- I’ve stopped a lot of streaming services. You don’t realize how much you are spending on subscriptions until you eliminate several of them.
- I don’t plan to buy any more books until I’ve finished the list above. (*PLAN* being the operative word here)
- I’m starting with the last one I put down – Everfair. It’s a great book, though one of the reasons I put it down, even though it’s a historical fiction, it has some parallels to what’s happening today in various places on the African continent.
That’s eleven books. If I can manage half of those by December’s end, I’m doing great!
Here are the books I’ve read in November:

Rosemary and Rue | Seanan McGuire
Fae court in San Francisco. I was entertained through the whole book. The main character is a badass while also getting her ass kicked. I enjoyed a great many of the secondary characters though the book’s timeline and name dropping were interesting. You’d often know more about a character by casual reference before they were ever introduced on-page. Definitely recommend for the world building, the general story implementation, and overall vibes.
